Psychological Safety - Build a culture of trust, respect and inclusion

Psychological Safety, as defined by Harvard Business School professor Dr Amy Edmondson, is “a belief that one will not be punished or humiliated for speaking up with ideas, questions, concerns or mistakes”. In short, an environment where employees feel comfortable being genuine and honest about who they are so have the confidence they won’t be threatened or punished for speaking up, making a mistake, putting forward an alternative opinion or asking for feedback and help,

If organisations don’t embrace psychological safety and their employees don’t have the confidence to participate or feel engaged, they won’t perform to their full potential and the innovation and growth of the organisation will slow. So, it’s up to managers and leaders need to promote psychological safety across the organisation and build a culture where employees feel supported and empowered. Then, transparency, health and well-being, employee engagement, retention, productivity and innovation will improve and the opportunities for burnout reduced.

Our Psychological Safety Training makes sure managers and leaders are aware of the importance of psychological safety in the workplace, what it means in their day-to-day activities and how it reinforces the organisation’s commitment to a culture of trust, respect and inclusion.
