Creating Resilient Cultures Course

Resilience has become one of the critical business skills of the twenty-first century. As organisations recognise that a strategic approach is required to achieve their business objectives and get results, we now understand that the ability to cope with change and challenges effectively and bounce back (or forward) from difficult situations, will allow us to thrive. Strength in the face of adversity and an ability to cope or even thrive in tough conditions is a quality of a resilient culture. Responding well to a single or one-off event it is not, rather a continuous anticipation and adjustment to external factors and internal changes that could otherwise hinder an organisation, its functionality or its success.

Organisational resilience helps provide, promote and reinforce an organisation’s values, beliefs and vision and will enable you to transform and innovate working practices. If resilient employees are all interpreting reality in the same way, their decisions and actions will be focussed, more effective and will enhance the performance of the organisation. In a continuously changing environment, coping with the stresses of modern life on a daily basis, adapting to almost incessant changes around us, both in the workplace and personally, remaining professional and keeping pace with increasing demands and competition are all components that the idea of resilience encompasses. Developing resilience on a personal level and, within an organisation, can boost business and personal success in addition to helping us to cope with the stresses of modern life.

Our approach builds resilience to ensure that change can be embraced and dealt with efficiently and effectively. We focus on rapid, imaginative, yet pragmatic solutions to issues by balancing a psychological approach with a highly organised, numerical and analytical approach. Organisational cultures provide, promote and reinforce an organisation’s values, beliefs and vision. Structural resilience will enable you to transform and innovate working practices. If resilient employees are all interpreting reality in the same way, their decisions and actions will be focussed, more effective and will enhance the performance of the organisation. One of the challenges for people undergoing development is the fact that the impact of their learning is diffused by the ‘barriers’ within their culture. One manager described it as taking fish from a polluted pond, cleaning them up, making them well again (the development process) but when returned to their habitat, they were returning to the polluted pond.  A “polluted” workplace ensures that the likelihood of creating transformation is limited and even basic learning embedding is restricted. A resilient culture is built one person at a time.

By the end of the programme, leaders will have:

Developed resiliency techniques focus on four aspects of performance: mental, physical, social and spiritual fitness.

  • The mental practices help with self-regulation assisting people with re-framing thoughts, managing change and self-awareness.

  • The physical practices promote proper sleep, good nutrition and exercise.

  • The social practices that emphasize relationship management, team member connectedness and communication.

  • The spiritual fitness practices are about core values, guiding principles and purpose.
