Loss and resilience

The sudden loss of her husband meant the lives of Tracey McAtamney and her family changed overnight. The fact that her husband had a public profile as a well-known solicitor only added to the emotions and complexities of her grief.

Tracey’s story demonstrates how everyone grieves differently and adjusts to a loss in their own way and how the loss of her husband changed Tracey forever. When it can feel like the end of the world, it sometimes proves that it’s your inner strength and resilience that gets you through. Tracey found purpose in the sharing of her story and is launching a foundation to assist others in their grief to try and provide the support, advice and a listening ear that is often overlooked.

In this podcast Tracey talks about the shock of losing her husband, how she broke the news to her two sons, one who was only seven years old, and dealt with the immediate and ongoing personal and business problems that her husband’s sudden death brought.. She also talks about finding the inner strength to deal with her problems whilst prioritising the needs of her boys and the realisation that she had to deal with everything and make decisions that would take her way out of her comfort zone
