The latest episode in our Resilience Unravelled series has now been released, Resilience Unravelled – Take a deep breath.
In this episode, Dr. Russell Thackeray talks to Kristine Ovsepian a former accountant, who eleven years ago found her unhappiness with her work and lifestyle led to a deterioration in both her emotional and physical health. Her doctor told her she had change to some things in her life and this was when she realised that when we are not in our purpose, our life becomes a struggle that can then turn in into emotional and physical symptoms.
In this podcast, Kristine talks about how having the wrong job can lead to physical and emotional pain because we are not aligned to our true self – who we are and what we are meant to be doing in our life. The physical deterioration appears because of emotional pain that can be also caused by trauma, memory or experiences and can cause obstacles in later life. This can be seen in the way we breathe. When we are not in a positive state our breath is affected. As babies we breathe through the belly but as adults our negative emotions get in the way so we tend to do more shallow chest breathing which itself causes anxiety. Slow breathing clams you down whilst sequence breathing techniques allow you to over oxygenate your body, your pH goes up and CO2 goes down.
Kristine feels its wrong just to focus on just one health aspect and that the mind body and soul have to be aligned and in balance. If you are not letting go of past obstacles, not nourishing your mind and soul with positivity then there is no balance. She also talks about energy, self-awareness, self-worth fulfilment and how we develop our beliefs as children.
