She has created ‘Lauri’s Lemonade Stand” which focusing on women over 40, who are trying to figure out what the next chapter of their life is, but she certainly has some great tips for everyone!
Lauri loves speaking, producing podcast and writing to support these women, which has opened up great opportunities to speak with other amazing, wonderful, warrior women who are out there, doing what they do for other women.
Do women see their full potential? Some women have mastered it but some are just dipping their toe in the water. Women need to give themselves permission and be honest about what they want.
- Physical health – nourishment and movement of your body
- Psychological health – the mind and spirit including knowledge and intuition
- Social health – how you show up in the world in all of your relationships, from strangers to family, to community, to the world
Lauri became a mum at a very young age through the choices she made. Later in life she felt that her education was something that she wanted to remedy. She started a diploma, which she set aside a couple of times when she got massively frustrated. It took an dedication of time to actually get it done. Eventually she decided to commit to working on it every Monday morning and some evenings and early mornings. She wanted to finish and complete it and through doing this she knew she could do anything. She knew she had the resilience, the power and the confidence to get it done. At her graduation she danced with the band and at that moment felt powerful and that she could accomplish anything.
Lauri has had experiences in her life that have taken her to rock bottom. Lauri has learnt that she can make it through whatever happens or comes her way. She has not been defined by what has happened but has learnt from them. You can not do anything about the past – you can not change it, but it becomes a learning tool. All we have is today to make a difference, as we can not touch tomorrow.
There may be major events where you have to take time to grieve, but at some point you have to allow yourself closure and move on with your life by adding it to that learning tool.
Lauri wanted to carry on that feeling of being positive following her student work, so went through further nutritional programmes and became a certified holistic health coach at New York University. Focusing on the physical, psychological and social aspects really provide an excellent foundation to life.
Eating greens, beans and berries is brilliant for fibre and developing great cognitive behaviour. Lauri believes that milk, eggs and meat cause inflammation in our system, often felt as headaches, bloating, an irritable stomach or perhaps some allergy symptoms. Moving away from processed and dairy foods and concentrating on eating foods that cause greatness in our bodies is key. Our body has a natural tendency to heal itself, so if we put in the right sort of fuel it can do that.
Within our mind and spirit, we always need to be in a state of learning and gaining whatever knowledge that is, by tuning into our intuition or what resonates within us.
Lauri’s life steps are as simple as 1, 2, 3:
- Commitment & Action
- Peace, Freedom and Joy
Commitment is an exclusionary process. When we commit, we are saying no to other things that we may have spent our time on. This is ok but it takes commitment and a conscious choice to exclude other things.
Action is needed to create motivation as motivation only happens after action. The action you take for whatever you are committed to will motivate you. Action, motivation, action, motivation, action, motivation…. will build momentum.
When you do steps 1 & 2 – step 3 just happens, its beautiful.
Peace comes from the personal satisfaction that you are doing your best, freedom from addiction and poor behaviours and joy from our accomplishments. Lauri feels that this absolutely can happen- she has not mastered all these things yet, but Lauri has found value in herself. She has peace, freedom and joy in what she has created and who she is today.
Lauri has empowered herself and is now able to empower others. If you are able to find peace, freedom and happiness in one part of your life , you can share this knowledge with others.
Three great self care tips:
- Take 5 minutes to write down your intentions for the day
- Take a few deep breaths as concentrating on your breathing is ridiculously cleansing
- Keep a journal, writing thoughts down helps us understand the past, present and future
Lauri loves journaling. She has a book called Better Each Day by Jessica Cassity, which gives her a daily prompt to write about. At night Lauri has little book, which is a 5 year journal, that only has a tiny amount of space for each day and Lauri updates it with the best part of that day.
Because journaling helps you heal, Lauri has come up with challenge to share with us!
It is the 7 day creative journaling insight challenge. It takes a few minutes each day and should help you slow down and provide some insights as to where you may need to focus your energy. It looks good fun! Click to download
