Can the martial arts help build resilience?

Ninja Nguyen had his first martial arts class in his native Vietnam when he was just four years old. At the time the country was still at war and, while his parents covertly smuggled his older brothers out of the country, he continued his martial arts training. Later, he and the rest of his family fled their home, living in refugee camps in Malaysia and the Philippines before gaining entrance to the United States. In his new country, Nguyen continued his training and eventually it provided him with a way to support himself when he opened the  Xtreme Ninja Martial Arts Center in Boston, where currently more than 500 students are trained.

In this podcast, Ninja talks about the huge changes he found when his family moved to the USA and how he learnt Englishthrough the martial arts. He also talks about how the martial arts can teach skills that are useful in everyday life and how the routines they teach can be applied to everything else you do in your life and contribute to your mental, physical and spiritual health and build your resilience.
