Millenials. A different way of looking at work at success
Dr Jennifer Wisdom has been a photojournalist, soldier, therapist, marathoner, surfer and teacher. She's also a qualified clinical psychologist who worked in academia for 20 years. She then set up her own business Wisdom Consulting where she helps leaders and teams get things done! She has also written two books aimed at helping Millennials succeed in the workplace.
Dr Wisdom grew up as a middle-class, suburban kid in the southeast U.S. Her family moved a great deal so she quickly learnt to adjust to change and how to assess relationships, organisations and systems. Her work then took her to a wide range of complex health care, government, and educational organisations. Many of her colleagues were Millennials and she became a sounding board for some of them. She then began to recognise some of the negativity and problems they faced in the workplace.
Within the next 10 years, Millennials will make up a majority of the work force. Dr Wisdom believes that we will all need to work together to help younger staff. The aim of her books is to help Millennials build the work skills they need to succeed. This includes identifying what's important to them, clarifying their values and navigating complex workplaces so they can find satisfaction and respect in their professional lives.
