Build resilience to beat burnout.
In this episode, Dr. Russell Thackeray talks to Eileen McDargh about resilience and burnout. Eileen is based in Southern California and has had her own consultancy for over 40 years. She works with global pharmaceutical companies, the US Armed Forces, hospital administrators and school districts. Her focus is on communication, how it can transform organisations and people, and how leaders communicate with staff and stakeholders.
In this podcast Eileen talks about how she originally became interested in resilience and her thoughts on how resilience is defined. She also discusses her four resilience skills and the link between resilience and energy management.
Eileen is also interested in the interaction between resilience and burnout. On August 4th her latest book Burnout to Breakthrough: Building Resilience to Refuel, Recharge, and Reclaim What Matters is published. This is the result of conversations with many of her clients over the last two or three years. Eileen feels that by better managing our energy, we can build resilience and overcome burnout. Part of this is finding work that feeds the spirit so we do things we really love to do, rather than what we can do. Just because we’re good at something, it doesn’t mean it’s what we should be doing!
