Kara is regularly called on for gut health and prebiotic focused expert dietary recommendations around the connection with mental wellbeing, and how psychobiotics can be utilised to reduce stress and inflammation in the body.
In this podcast, Kara explains the role food plays in supporting mental wellbeing and mood and how the gut and brain are connected through signalling pathways. She talks about the research around psychobiotics and eating patterns, explains the difference between prebiotics and probiotics and explains how they work together to reduce stress signals and inflammation in the body. She also explains which foods are the best sources of prebiotics, the importance of Prebiotic Fibers and Resistant Starch, how to feed the gut bacteria and to ensure you don’t have a deficiency in nutrients.
In 2018 Kara launched her company Uplift Food, which focuses on the mood supportive benefits of gut healthy probiotics. Kara talks about the motivations to establiush it, how it has evolved and how she create more natural and organic healthy new products.
