Engagement – surely a no-brainer?
The Global Perspectives survey released by ORC International suggests UK employees have some of the lowest engagement with their jobs in the world, placing the UK 18th out of 20 countries. The only countries with lower employee engagement were Japan and Hong Kong.
Higher engagement does not necessarily mean improved retention, nor does it always produce superior performance. Engagement is becoming seen as the preserve of the HR function rather than as an output of the entire operation.
There is evidence that some organisations have people who are ‘over-engaged’ often with a cause or mission, ensuring they serve the cause rather than always delivering the performance required by their role.
We all realise that engagement can create awesome returns – but only if:
- You know what to expect
- You know what is required
- You know what and when to measure it
- You know how to calculate the returns
We have a strong track record of working with our clients to develop processes for all the above, so lets have a conversation.
